The course aims to provide the necessary knowledge to the design and management of safety and maintenance of industrial systems, considered as complex production systems.
To this end, the course deals with the management of risky, incidental, harmful, accident-causing phenomena and threats, that can occur in a productive activity. It moreover provides information on laws, technical rules and standards and existing good practices and introduces methodologies for systems analysis useful to anticipate and manage unexpected phenomena in the operation of machinery, equipment, facilities and complex systems. It is not enough that you should understand about applied science in order that your work may increase man’s blessings.
Concern for the man himself and his fate must always form the chief interest of all technical endeavors; concern for the great unsolved problems of the organization of labor and the distribution of goods in order that the creations of our mind shall be a blessing and not a curse to mankind.
Never forget this in the midst of your diagrams and equations.
