Welcome to Rome:
Our school has developed, through the studies of Saverio Muratori and Gianfranco Caniggia, a method based on the understanding of processual evolution of urban fabric as a premise for architectural design: following this assumption, we will develop the project for the "civic centre" in San Vito in a processual manner. Imagining that in the site in a first phase residential buildings (row houses) are established, and in a second phase these are transformed into a specialized building. This is a design simulation of the historical real evolution of specialized buildings that can provide a very useful guidance for design. Considering the city as an "urban organism" it's relationships with the "territorial organism" are essential to understand how a single building is developed.
Most of you haven't attended 1st and 2nd year courses that introduce gradually to this methodology, so you might find some difficulties.
I strongly suggest to read some of these books available in the Central Library of the faculty, or in the Library "Enrico Guidoni" of the Department of Architecture and Project (DIAP) to grasp the method.

I also suggest to attend all the lessons and to draw a lot at home, since this design studio should be completed for the end of the year and you should finish your project by then.
