Nowadays it is known that everyone must learn at least two languages in order to be part of the

globalized job system.

Even if our parents' generation did not have to face this problem, it is also true that the way we learn languages is simpler than in the past. Young people, for instance, have the opportunity to go abroad while studying at university, thanks to Erasmus + programme. In this way they can continue studying for their degree and get to know new cultures and learn languages.

Moreover, our educational system has understood the importance of teaching foreign languages since the first days of elementary school. In this way children can develop a certain attitude towards languages that is difficult to acquire when older.

Our parents, instead, had to attend specific courses, after the college, without great results. The situation was even more complex for our grandparents. In fact, in Italy there was the necessity to spread the Italian language, istead of regional dialects, so that the study of other languages was not allowed.

Something changed with the televisions' appearance. Our parents could learn English watching TV lessons like we do on Youtube or through DVDs.

So I can say, we should feel very lucky to have a wide number of solutions to learn languages and we should use them not only to master our speaking ability but also to be really part of a globalized world.
