The course aims to provide the necessary knowledge to the design and management of safety and maintenance of industrial systems, considered as complex production systems.To this end, the course deals with the management of risky, incidental, harmful, accident-causing phenomena and threats, that can occur in a productive activity. It moreover provides information on laws, technical rules and standards and existing good practices and introduces methodologies for systems analysis useful to anticipate and manage unexpected phenomena in the operation of machinery, equipment, facilities and complex systems.
It is not enough that you should understand about applied science in order that your work may increase man’s blessings.
Concern for the man himself and his fate must always form the chief interest of all technical endeavors; concern for the great unsolved problems of the organization of labor and the distribution of goods in order that the creations of our mind shall be a blessing and not a curse to mankind.
Never forget this in the midst of your diagrams and equations.

All students who are regularly enrolled in degree programmes are covered by insurance (excluding travel to and from the university). The insurance covers not only activities and events on campus, but also off-campus if the activities are officially recognised and authorised by the university. Moreover, insurance for students on traineeships includes coverage for home-work-home travel.

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too:
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;
If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim,
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same:
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools;
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss:
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much:
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And—which is more—you'll be a Man, my son!
Senza tuttavia sembrare troppo buono, né parlare troppo da saggio;
Se riuscirai a sognare, senza fare del sogno il tuo padrone;
No man is an island,
Entire of itself;
Every man is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less,
As well as if a promontory were:
As well as if a manor of thy friend's
Or of thine own were.
Any man's death diminishes me,
Because I am involved in mankind.
And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls;
It tolls for thee.Nessun uomo è un’isola, completo in se stesso;
