PRODUCT DESIGN STUDIO.

DESIGN THINKING | DESIGN PROTOTYPES

The ‘Product Design studio ’  and the ‘Design prototypes’ courses is organized as an integrated course, through two modules: 'Design Thinking" and ‘Design prototypes’.

Design thinking.

The module Design Prototypes develops 3  specific aspect of design activity: 1. product design, 2. design&technological requirements of materials and components , 3. Technologies and processes for prototypes.
The integrated course will be organized in:
1. Lectures (Technologies, Design Theories and Examples, Issues of morphological mechanical behaviour)
2. WorkshopLab (about the design-work topic)
3. Deliveries and Final Work

For steps 2 and 3, the class will be divided into groups. With the aim of fostering the integration of cultures and skills, each group will be composed of 1 or maximum of 3 people (possible including at least one Italian student).
Objectives
The course will provide students to know, to understand and to know how and to manage a design activity of product for furniture, interpreting the quality and performance of the materials as elements which can drive the project; also investigating the forms in relation to physical-mechanical characteristics and the available technologies of production.

Design-Work Topic
The course will explore the issue of innovation in design a system of products in relationship with users . This type is suitable to be designed and conceived as contemporary structure with specific requirements ; these will be studied both as a physical-mechanical feature and as an aesthetic-perceptual feature, able to determine design innovation. Morphology can investigate new areas of physical material behavior to open up to experimental scenarios on the limit states of structures and design.
