This is an upper-intermediate level (B2) English Course for students of chemistry and analytical chemistry. According to the Common European Frame of Reference for Languages (CEFR) a language learner can:

  • Understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in their field of specialization.
  • Produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.

 

The main goal of this course is to help students understand and produce basic Academic and Scientific texts (cv, different types of aricles articles and oral texts.) In order to achieve this aim , we will study and/or review fundamental grammar rules and structures, such as:

 

Tense revision (present, simple and continuous; present/past perfect simple and continuous; past, simple and continuous; future forms);

Zero, first, second, and third conditionals;

Passive voice;

Relative clauses;

Modal verbs…

 

We will study these structures and rules through grammar/vocabulary exercises, and through the reading and discussion of different texts, both written and oral.
