The aim of the course is to provide
students with the grammar (level B2 in the Common European Framework of
Reference for Languages) and the practice necessary in order to acquire academic
speaking
and reading comprehension skills.

Articles
on the evolution of English and its use in the world today will be analyzed so
as to present grammar and other aspects of language related to English in
real linguistic contexts.
The course will, thus, offer academic reading
practice useful for students who wish to study in English or in an
English-speaking environment as well as for students preparing for the
International English Language Testing System (IELTS).

Throughout
the course, students will also become familiar with the International Phonetic
Alphabet (IPA) and with some aspects of English pronunciation.
