The course aims to provide students with a
general theoretical framework on the issues of labour law and industrial
relations and to analyze some forms of regulatory experiences in different
legal systems.

For this purpose, after an introductory
methodological class, will be examined some specific issues, namely 1)
definitions of “worker” and “employer”; 2) power of the employer, workers
control, privacy and dignity limits; 3) freedom of association and collective
bargaining.

Furthermore, the analysis will be addressed on
the European Treaties, their regulations and more particularly some relevant
European Directives. With reference to European Law, main topics which will be
addressed are the following:

-The Evolution of the EC Social Policy and the
Law Making  in the Field of Social
policy;

-The Regulation on  the Free Movement of the Workers and of the
Posting of Workers;

- Employee Rights and Restructuring Enterprises
(Transfer of Undertakings, Collective Redundancies and Employees’ Rights and
the Employer’s Insolvency); 

- Collective Labour Law (Worker Involvement in
Decision-Making: Information, Consultation and Worker Participation, Freedom of
Association, Collective Bargaining and Collective Action).
