Gli Assiri in contesto: dalla città al paesaggio, dal paesaggio al palazzo

Il corso affronta la storia e l'evoluzione del Periodo Neo-Assiro (IX-VII secolo a.C.). Le lezioni riguarderanno:

1) la produzione dello spazio in Assiria e la trasformazione del paesaggio circostante;

2) i progetti edilizi d'Assiria: il palazzo come sede della regalità;

3) architettura e arte: contesto, significato e pubblico.

The Assyrian world in context: from the city to the landscape, from the landscape to the palace

The course is intended as an introduction to the ancient Assyrian in the first millennium BC, more precisely in the Late Assyrian Period (9th-7th century BC). Lessons will be divided to cover the following aspect:

1) the production of space in Assyria in urban contexts and the transformation and adaptation of the neighbouring landscape;

2) the building projects of the Assyrian kings: the palace as the seat of kingship;

3) architecture and visual art: context, meaning and audience.
