Fashion is a complex socio/economical phenomenon with important interpersonal implications that shares with the other arts the beauty experience. Beauty is a basic pleasure that is often compromised in several diseases such as profound depression. Although the object of beauty is debated, the experience of beauty has been extensively studied. Our body responds through perception and emotions to the object we desire. This course will cover the basic processes involved in perceiving an object and in the emotional experience that arise. The aim of this class is to highlight the cognitive mediators of the beauty experience in fashion.
