The main aim of the course is to introduce the participants to the most important European statistical databases, to the demographic and socio-economic indicators contained therein and to the methodological issues related to their use.

The Eurostat database will be presented, as well as the specific thematic European databases and the most relevant European harmonized socio-economic surveys such as EU-Silc (European Union Statistics on Income and Living Conditions) and EU- LFS (European Union Labour Force Survey). The most important indicators contained therein will be analyzed, with specific attention to those relevant within Europe2020 strategy. Specific attention will be paid to demographic data on ageing, health and migration; available national and international sources of data on voluntary and forced migrations will be analyzed, applying appropriate statistical tools.
