The course introduces the fundamental concepts of the Economics of Innovation through the two main theoretical traditions in the field: the evolutionary and the neoclassical approaches. It combines theoretical models with the discussion of empirical evidence on the determinants, diffusion and effects of technological change at the micro, meso and macro levels. This provides the foundation for examining the main principles of industrial and innovation policy.
