Quest’anno, a differenza degli anni scorsi, non assegnerò un complesso di luoghi per i pellegrini che percorrono la via Francigena. Quest’anno sarete chiamati a progettare un luogo altrettanto sacro, la casa dell’alchimista. Niente ready made, niente tipologie da manuale niente copiette da pinterest e progettini di seconda mano. Anche perché non esiste una manualistica relativa a tale “tipologia”. La casa dell’alchimista è un luogo dell’anima, non ha regole compositive prefissate. Ma non è questo lo scopo ultimo del corso. Quest’anno sarete chiamati a sognare e a tradurre il vostro sogno in un progetto che prenda spunto dall’alchimia. La quale non è, come si crede, l’abilità di produrre oro dal piombo, quanto piuttosto l’arte di ricomporre l’unità del reale, lacerato dalla creazione: riunificare il duale del quale si nutre il nostro mondo. L’alchimia infatti è questo: ricomposizione degli opposti da ottenersi mediante nozze alchemiche; vale a dire, unire in matrimonio il sole e la luna, il maschile e il femminile. L'alchimia è anche un percorso inziatico che si sviluppa in ter fasi: la nigredo, l'albedo, la rubedo. A ciascuna di queste tre fasi corrispondono diverse simbologie che vi aiuteranno ad impostare il vs. progetto.

Questo corso, pertanto, non servirà unicamente a produrre progetti quanto piuttosto a indicarvi una strada. Per essere architetti dovete mettere insieme l’istinto e la ragione: perché ove fosse solo istinto, non sapreste costruire, ove fosse solo ragione il vostro costruito sarebbe senz’anima. La luna è l’anima, il sole la ragione.

This year, you will be asked to dream and translate your dream into a project inspired by alchemy. Alchemy is not, as is commonly believed, the ability to produce gold from lead, but rather the art of recomposing the unity of reality, torn apart by creation: reunifying the duality that nourishes our world. Alchemy, in fact, is this: the recomposition of opposites, achieved through alchemical marriage; That is, uniting the sun and the moon, the masculine and the feminine, in marriage. Alchemy is also an initiatory journey that unfolds in three phases: nigredo, albedo, and rubedo. Each of these three phases corresponds to different symbols that will help you formulate your project.

This course, therefore, will not serve merely to produce projects but rather to show you a path. To be an architect, you must combine instinct and reason: because if it were only instinct, you would not know how to build; if it were only reason, your buildings would be soulless. The moon is the soul, the sun is reason.
