The Law and Religion course aims to analyze the main topics and issues concerning the relationship between law and religion in Europe. Specifically, it aims to provide students with the essential knowledge relating to the relationship between law and religion and the different models of relations between states and religious communities in Europe, with particular attention to the issue of individual and collective religious freedom in its many dimensions.  Specific attention is devoted to the system of protection of the right to religious freedom in national and supranational law, above all in the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR). Through the concepts provided in class by the professor and individual study, the aim is to develop students' knowledge and ability to interpret international and national legal instruments on the subject, as well as the relevant case law. The ultimate goal is for students to acquire the ability to critically address the various aspects relating to the regulation of the relationship between law and religion in Europe, in the context of the current multi-ethnic, multicultural, and multi-religious evolution of the Western world.
