This is a course on the legal order of the European Union with particular focus on its external policies, especially from the angle of the promotion of human rights.

The course will be based on lectures, we will have some guest lecturers on specific topics, and we will have to closely follow the development of the international situation for what concerns the involvement of the EU in international issues.

I hope that all and each of you will give a contribution of research, readings, comments and questions in order to make the coming semester stimulating, interesting and challenging for all of us.

these are troubled times, and troubled times require a critical approach, critical thinking and commitment to engage in discussion  and to achieve an enhanced awareness of the problems and knowledge and comprehension of the legal and institutional background.

From a more practical perspective, I will provide instructions in class and more info here. In the first week section of the course, below, you may find the textbooks that you need for the exam, and additional reading material will be also provided during the course, week by week. I strongly recommend that you register on this course here on Moodle, in order to have access to all info, materials and communications from me.

I look forward to meeting you guys in the classroom next week!
