After an introduction to information theory and the history of the World Wide Web, the course will address the field of study of Digital Humanities, understood both as the application of information technology tools to the humanities and as an ethical and sustainable approach to the use of technology in contemporary society.
A definition of what Digital Humanities are today will be provided, followed by an exploration of concepts such as hypertext, convergence, transmedia, data, and archive. Subsequently, the course will delve into the use of Digital Humanities in the literary field, including XML, textual analysis, and digital editions.
The final part of the course will focus on artificial intelligence in relation to the humanities and literature, covering topics such as the ethics and aesthetics of artificial intelligence, AI Art, and the intersection of artificial intelligence and literature.
