The course aims to provide essential knowledge
on fundamentals and applications of biotechnological processes relevant to the
field of environmental protection. In this context, main attention will be paid
at studying biotechnological processes for the treatment and simultaneous
valorization of waste and wastewater as well as for the treatment of
contaminated soils and groundwater. 

The module "Waste and wastewater treatment and valization" provides students with knowledge
and understanding of fundamentals of main biotechnological processes for the
treatment of waste and wastewater as well as for their valorization as both
secondary resources and energy carrier. A specific focus will be given to the
study of strategies aimed at controlling biotechnological processes and on the
design of biological reactors.
