This is a two-semester language course ("di lettorato") for first-year students at ISO, and it is for Canale 2: students of Hindi, Persian, and Arabic. We will do the first 8 units of the textbook Voices Upper Intermediate, published by National Geographic, now on its first edition. Your exam at the end of the year, in June (and it's written only), will cover the language skills you have learned in the first eight units.

You need to get an 18 out of 30 on our exam to go on to the Linguistics exam. Your mark on our exam is valid for an entire year and will be averaged in with your mark on Linguistics.

If you have a Cambridge or IELTs certificate at level B2 or higher (C1 or C2), please send it on to me and my colleague Alexandra Smit. You will be exempt from taking our lettorato exam. PLEASE NOTE: You must have received your B2 certificate in the last two years from when you do our exam, whereas, if you received a C1 or higher, that evaluation 'non scade' -- doesn't expire. Che sembra 'spirare', ma ci siamo capiti!

The class meets on Tuesdays from 4-6pm in Aula 105 at Marco Polo, and Wednesday from 4-6pm in Aula 205 in Marco Polo.

Do drop in, show your face, say hello, and enjoy the classl! English is important for you globetrotting ISO students!
