This is a one-semester course (lettorato) for second-year ISO students. It covers the last four units of the textbook Keynote Upper Intermediate, units 9-12, and includes four or five translation workshops as well, to help you through practice on your Translation Studies course. There will be a workshop after each unit we finish (three times on sections 1-3 of the units).

The one-hour exam includes a first part (15 minutes) consisting of 15 multiple-choice questions on those four units. Study the key words and expressions in the Ted Talks and readings carefully. And study the grammar section with all its examples as well. No dictionary for this first part.

The second part, 45 minutes, consists of a translation from Italian into English of a brief passage of my choosing. You can use a dictionary for this part, monolingual or Eng-Ita.

Note: if you are not mother-tongue Italian, you  may write a composition, in English, about the translation challenges in the passage as regards putting it into your own language, or in general.

Note: the mark I give you is valid for an entire year, so you can take the orals later on in that year, if you prefer.

Class files will be put up on the elearning platform once a week. See you soon!
