This one-semester course in the second year of the triennale completes the textbook we used in ENG 1, Keynote Upper-Intermediate, published by National Geographic/Cengage. We will be covering the last four units of the book, units 9-12 (the first 3 sections of each unit). The emphasis will be on the TED Talks, the key vocabulary and phrases found in them and the key grammar used in them (and the grammar section). Key vocabulary continues in the reading section. As with ENG 1, the exam includes multiple-choice questions on the key terms in each unit, but 15 questions instead of 30, because of the second part of the exam for ENG 2 is a brief translation from English into Italian.
During this course, after we complete each unit, we will do some practice in class translating passages, to prepare you for the translation part of this exam.
You need to get an 18 on my exam (di lettorato) to go on to the orals with the docente.
Can't wait to see you all in one form or another on Tuesday, March 1st! From 3pm to 5. Then on Thursdays from 1pm to 3. In-person or online, come along for the ride!
