Aims of the course:

-   To develop a basic understanding of Newtonian mechanics, physics of fluids, thermodynamics, electricity and magnetism.

-   To introduce the fundamental concepts of force, torque, work, potential energy, kinetic energy, mechanical energy, power, impulse, linear and angular momentum.

-   To illustrate the use of conservation laws in a variety of problems in physics.

-   To introduce the concepts of temperature, heat and entropy applied to simple thermodynamical systems.

-   To introduce the concepts of electric field and potential, magnetic field and currents.

-   To illustrate in detail how to solve a wide range of physics problems.
