Gerico dal Neolitico al Bronzo Antico I
Il corso prevede una prima parte introduttiva (24 ore) di carattere storico-geografico del Levante meridionale dal IX millennio alla fine del IV millennio a.C. con il focus centrale nel sito di Tell es-Sultan/antica Gerico. Successivamente un approfondimento (18 ore) sarà dedicato alla storia degli scavi in questo sito.
I periodi del Neolitico Aceramico (A e B) e Ceramico (A e B) saranno analizzati, esaminando le varie fasi di occupazione del sito, la topografia, le architetture e le evidenze (60 ore). In questa parte del corso, dunque, saranno esaminati i fossili guida di queste fasi, la litica e la ceramica, e saranno ricostruiti i processi di progressiva sedentarizzazione dei primi gruppi umani e della domesticazione.
Una sezione conclusiva (24 ore) sarà dedicata al passaggio tra il periodo Neolitico finale e l'Età del Bronzo, nella fase del Calcolitico, con un gap occupazionale del sito, e la successiva rioccupazione del sito e i prodromi della fase urbana.
Nel corso delle lezioni saranno organizzati dei seminari interdisciplinari.
La partecipazione alla visita del Museo del Vicino Oriente, Egitto e Mediterraneo della Sapienza è necessaria per poter sostenere l’esame.
Al corso sono collegate una serie di Altre Attività Formative utili all’acquisizione dei CFU (laboratorio di schedatura di materiali archeologici, laboratorio di documentazione grafica dei materiali archeologici, laboratorio di documentazione fotografica dei materiali archeologici, scavo nei siti di Tell es-Sultan/Gerico – Palestina -, e Khirbet al-Batrawy - Giordania).

Jericho from the Neolithic to the Early Bronze I
The course includes a first introductory part (24 hours) of historical-geographical nature of the Southern Levant from the 9th millennium to the end of the 4th millennium BC with the central focus on the site of Tell es-Sultan / ancient Jericho. Subsequently an in-depth study (18 hours) will be dedicated to the history of excavations on this site.
The periods of PrePottery Neolithic (A and B) and Pottery (A and B) will be analyzed, examining the various phases of occupation of the site, topography, architecture and evidence (60 hours). In this part of the course, therefore, peculiar finds of these phases, lithic and pottery, will be examined and the processes of progressive sedentarization of the first human groups and of domestication will be reconstructed.
A concluding section (24 hours) will be dedicated to the transition between the final Neolithic and the Bronze Age, in the Chalcolithic phase, with an occupational gap in the site, and the subsequent reoccupation of the site and the outlines of the urban phase.
Interdisciplinary seminars will be planned during classes.
Participation in the visit of the Museum of the Near East, Egypt and the Mediterranean of La Sapienza is necessary to take the exam.

Coerentemente con gli obiettivi formativi del Corso di Studio in cui è inserito, il corso si propone di fornire, nell’ambito dell'ARCHEOLOGIA DEL VICINO ORIENTE ANTICO I A, conoscenze e capacità di comprensione che completano e/o rafforzano quelle acquisite nel primo ciclo di studi, e di mettere lo studente in grado di affrontare temi originali anche in un contesto di ricerca, formulando giudizi in forma più complessa e articolata, comunicando le conoscenze e i processi che hanno condotto alla loro acquisizione, e studiando gli argomenti in modo autonomo.
Coerentemente con gli obiettivi formativi del Corso di Studio in cui è inserito, il corso si propone di fornire, nell’ambito dell'ARCHEOLOGIA DEL VICINO ORIENTE ANTICO I A, conoscenze e capacità di comprensione che completano e/o rafforzano quelle acquisite nel primo ciclo di studi, e di mettere lo studente in grado di affrontare temi originali anche in un contesto di ricerca, formulando giudizi in forma più complessa e articolata, comunicando le conoscenze e i processi che hanno condotto alla loro acquisizione, e studiando gli argomenti in modo autonomo.
In consistency with the educational purposes of the whole teaching course, aim of the teaching unit is to give students knowledge and comprehension skills in the field of ARCHEOLOGY OF ANCIENT NEAR EAST I A, that complete and/or reinforce those acquired in the first grade of studies. Moreover, it will make the students able to approach orginal themes in a research context, making more complex judgments, communicating knowledge and its process, and studying the subject in an independent and self-educational way.

La valutazione finale consiste in un esame orale durante il quale verranno proposti quesiti sui temi affrontati durante le lezioni e trattati nella bibliografia di riferimento. Alla valutazione del rendimento del candidato concorreranno la terminologia usata, la capacità di esporre i concetti e di inquadramento nel contesto storico-geografico.
La frequenza alle lezioni e ai seminari, la partecipazione attiva in classe, la conoscenza della bibliografia indicata sono elementi fondamentali per il superamento della prova, sono invece elementi utili capacità di ragionamento e studio autonomo.
Per superare l’esame occorre conseguire un voto non inferiore a 18/30. Lo studente deve dimostrare di esprimersi con un linguaggio appropriato, di aver acquisito una conoscenza sufficiente degli argomenti di base esposti durante le lezioni e di essere in grado di orientarsi negli aspetti di base della disciplina.
Per conseguire un punteggio pari a 30/30 e lode, lo studente deve invece dimostrare di aver acquisito una conoscenza eccellente di tutti gli argomenti trattati durante il corso, essendo in grado di raccordarli in modo logico e coerente, nonché capacità di ragionamento e studio autonomo.
The final evaluation consists of an oral exam during which questions will be proposed on the topics discussed during the lessons and treated in the syllabus. To evaluate the candidate’s performance will compete the terminology used, the ability to expose the concepts and classification in the historical-geographical context.
Attendance at lessons and seminars, active participation in the classroom, knowledge of the indicated syllabus are fundamental elements for passing the final exam, while useful reasoning and self-study skills are useful elements.
To pass the exam you must obtain a mark of not less than 18/30. The student must demonstrate to express himself in an appropriate language, to have acquired sufficient knowledge of the basic topics presented during the lessons and to be able to orientate himself in the basic aspects of the discipline.
To achieve a mark of 30/30 cum laude, the student must instead demonstrate that he has acquired excellent knowledge of all the topics covered during the course, being able to link them in a logical and consistent way, as well as reasoning skills and autonomous study.
